It’s the worst-looking car in the world. I’d rather look at one of Clarkson’s dingleberries

Good stuff

Cutting-edge technology, extremely sharp styling, inventive materials, class-leading visibility and affordable pricing

Bad stuff

Small risk of choking, requires a substantial extension lead, central passenger might boil to death

Overview

What is it?

The Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust – an eco car to rival the miserable and downright dangerous G Wiz – began life as a prototype called Geoff.

Hand-built in Britain, Geoff featured a lightweight aluminium body and unique styling inspired by fighter jets, leaves and the actor Peter Bowles. With the chassis and brakes from a TVR it also showed great sporting potential, highlighted by a battery-based power system paired with a smooth electric motor.

After Geoff’s first road test, it was decided that the fully developed i-Thrust would benefit from the addition of an ingenious hybrid drivetrain, featuring a diesel generator to keep the batteries topped up.

What's the verdict?

TopGear’s pioneering electrical vehicle represents a new dawn for eco cars, and could quite literally set your world on fire
