Vauxhall Frontera review

Prices start at £24,855, which places the base Frontera Hybrid nearly a grand more than the base Frontera Electric pre-government grant, and over two grand pricier if you've snared the money. If you want the higher-powered mild-hybrid setup, it's a £1,510 premium.

What different kits are available?

There are three trim levels to choose from. A Frontera Design boasts 16in steel wheels with covers, wheel arch cladding, black skid plates front and rear, and LED headlights. Inside you get the full dual 10in screen setup, a pair of USB-C ports front and rear, wireless smartphone mirroring, rear parking camera and sensors, cruise control, and the usual driver assist suite. For £400 you can have a white roof, white steel wheels and roof rails for a bit of off-road aesthetic flair.

GS adds £2,400 to the list price, giving you 17in diamond-cut alloys, silver skid plates, a black roof with tinted rear windows, gloss black power folding mirrors, and LED taillights. Inside you get the posh Intelli-Seats, electronic climate control, front parking sensors and a blind-spot alert.

Another £800 upgrades you to a Frontera Ultimate which brings gloss black roof rails plus the heated windscreen, steering wheel and seats.

What’s the best spec?

Easy one this, Design trim in green khaki paint with the Design Styling Pack for the white steel wheels. It’s not an option on the higher trims, FYI. We reckon most could make do with the entry-level mild hybrid, but given this is Top Gear we’d likely pick the pokier version for the useful extra torque.
