This V12 Vanquish is the most controversial thing you’ll see today

Come for the Aston Martin goodness, stay for the banana yellow interior

Published: 28 Apr 2023

We know why you’re here. We’ll get to that in a second, but allow us to set the scene: this is one of the final first-generation Aston Martin V12 Vanquishes ever built, and it’s up for sale.

Yup, Silverstone Auctions has been charged with finding a buyer for this V12 Vanquish S, number 40 of a final run of 50 Ultimate Editions that brought half a century of building Astons at Newport Pagnell to a close in 2007.

Let’s not forget it was also the car which gave Pierce Brosnan the power to disappear inside a giant igloo in Die Another Day. So, significant on many levels.

That blitz of 50 was sold in just a couple of weeks with a sticker price of £182,095, with 20 bought in right-hand drive and the rest (rather obviously) LHD.

Harnessing 520bhp and capable of 200mph, this car was specced in ‘Ultimate Black’ trim with semi-aniline leather, coarse stitching, leather headlining and some chrome fittings, among many features.

Now, the reason you’re here. Yup, that - how do we put this diplomatically - 'brave' yellow interior is not factory spec, you won’t be surprised to learn, but rather a re-trim that was instigated in the 15 years after the car was bought and put on display.

The reason? None given. Perhaps the owner really liked bees? Feel free to speculate below.

Anyway, there’s just 522km on the clock having never been registered for road use, and the auctioneer has issued a guide price of £150-£170k. Achievable, d’you think?
