Look who’s back: the 1,926bhp Aspark Owl Roadster will do 0-62mph in 1.78s

Japanese hyper-EV returns as an open-topped four-wheeled bird of prey

Owls are brilliant. According to various wildlife guides, barn owls are recognisable by their white/golden body, tawny owls are greyish/reddish and hunt from perches, short-eared owls have, well, y’know, short ears, while long-eared ones look like adorable fluffy bats.

But of the ‘unexpected’ owl variants – eagle, snowy – one’s been sorely undocumented. The yellowish 1,926bhp ‘Aspark’ Owl. Yes friends, the mad Japanese hyper-EV has returned from its daytime slumber to stare terrifyingly into your soul, this time without a roof.

It still comes with a mighty dollop of silent, electrified power, courtesy of four motors (allowing 4WD of course), a 69kWh battery with 800V architecture, and a full carbon fibre body atop a carbon monocoque. And falcon doors!

There’s active aero in the shape of a moveable rear wing, a low drag spec, and the ability to adjust the ride height. There’s also the ability to very actively travel silently and wide-eyed from 0-62mph in just 1.78s, 0-124mph in 4.76s, 0-186mph in 9.74s, and hit a top speed – where applicable – of 256mph.

It gets massive brakes – 10-pots on the front, four-pots on the back, on carbon ceramic discs – a quoted range of over 155 miles, and a few drive modes and driver assistance systems on board.

No word on price, but Aspark’s only building 20 of these things. As we know from last year’s update, each build will be handled by Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT), who once did the SCG003, Apollo Intensa Emozione, and new Stratos.

“The design embodies the spirit of the ‘OWL’ – a symbol of silent precision and fierce power. Like an owl preparing to strike, the car radiates both serenity and intensity, blending stillness with explosive performance,” said Aspark.
