The new Alpine A110 will look sort of* like this sculpture

Following its run up the hill at Goodwood back in July in the form of a humble test mule, we’re now a step closer to seeing what the new electric Alpine A110 will look like. And it will look… something like this [gestures upwards]. Whaddya think?

Only so much you can tell from sculpture of course, but Alpine insists that the third-generation A110 will maintain the proportions of the Mk1 Berlinette and the modern-day remake.

It’ll also get a ‘V-shaped front-end treatment’ and a ‘dual light signature’, not to mention ‘muscular’ wheelarches and a ‘teardrop-shaped’ cabin. Buzzwords galore. Anyone else seeing shades of Ford Mustang meets Aston Martin Vantage?

Alpine also insists that the silhouette is ‘defined by a beltline running from the shark-nose front end to the lowered rear, creating incomparable presence and elegance’.

Anyhow, we already know that the new A110 will be built upon the Alpine Performance Platform, with a pair of electric motors bolted onto the rear axle and not one but two 800-volt batteries that will help mimic the 40:60 weight balance of the original. Can’t imagine this one will be lighter, mind…

Still no word on when we’ll see the finished thing, but the sculpture will be on display at the Paris Motor show next month for punters to pore over for hours on end. And after that the Tate Modern. Presumably.
