New Tesla ‘Holiday Update’ announced: Steam gaming, updated Dog Mode and more
Yes, you can play Half-Life in your Tesla, which is all that really matters now
Tesla has announced its new ‘Holiday Update’ and the most important thing to know is this: you can now play seminal videogame Half-Life from the comfort of your (stationary) Model S or Model X.
Or indeed, any game from Steam’s enormous catalogue including AAA titles like Cyberbunk 2077. Tesla has announced a raft of new features as part of its ‘Holiday Update’, and videogame streaming platform Steam is now officially available on the S and X.
It's understood the feature works on 2022 and newer model year S and X cars that have 16GB of DDR memory and 'Premium Connectivity'.
Elsewhere, there’s been an update to the ‘Dog Mode’ and ‘Sentry Mode’, which lets you view the cabin camera via the Tesla app in order to “keep an eye on your puppy”. There’s a ‘light show’ function, Apple Music now going “to 11” a-la Spinal Tap, the ability to make Zoom calls using that cabin cam and even a remote garage door control.

Oh, one final thing: “Track Mode coming to Model Y Performance”. This mode, already available on Model 3 Performance cars, allows for calibration of the motor’s power from front to back, adjustable stability control and regenerative braking, better vehicle cooling, and other nuggets like a lap timer and g-meter.
Mostly though, Half-Life.
