Peugeot’s e-3008 and e-5008 SUVs will smash through the 400-mile range barrier

Long Range models are incoming, and they're set to do exactly what they say on the tin...

Peugeot’s biggest electric SUVs - the e-3008 and all-new e-5008 - will both be capable of over 400 miles in ‘Long Range’ spec when they go on sale, likely early next year. Crikey.

That comfortably places them among the longest-range electric cars on sale right now. Again, crikey.

The e-3008 Long Range uses a 233bhp powertrain mated to a 96.3kWh battery, which means 435 miles from full and a 27-minute recharge from 20-80 per cent using a 160 kW DC charger.

Peugeot's mid-size eSUV is already on sale of course, but only with a smaller 73kWh unit (and its piddly 326 miles) until the Long Range comes online.

Meanwhile the seven-seat e-5008 gets the same e-motor, power, battery size and recharge times, but that added bulk means max range drops to 415 miles. It too can be had with the less powerful 213bhp output and smaller battery combo.

Both cars gain a new battery pre-conditioning system from the off, which helps with efficiency and charging times on longer trips. You'll be going some to need more than one stop in these, right?

We expect pricing for the Long Range models to be confirmed at the Paris Motor Show in mid-October, when they'll be making their world premieres.
