Porsche announces 2023 software update for ALL Taycan models
So the older your Porsche Taycan is, the more goodies you’ll see
Porsche has announced a new software update for the Taycan, which will bring every single variant up to the 2023 model year.
The update is irrespective of “vehicle age, engine and body”, and the specifics on upgrading each Taycan – including necessary workshop visits – depend on the software status of each individual car. Porsche says the older your Taycan is, the more benefit you’ll see.
The biggest update involves the powertrain – in ‘normal’ and ‘range’ modes for AWD Taycans, the front motor will be almost “completely disconnected” during partial load and de-energised. Coasting, or at a standstill? Both axles “are free of drive torque”.
The AWD indicator is now an energy-flow indicator in the central display, while energy recuperation has also been what Porsche calls ‘optimised’. Elsewhere, there’s better battery conditioning – especially when (baby) it’s cold outside – while excess heat from the electrical componentry is used to temper the battery even more.
Speaking on batteries, Taycan owners can – at a cost, of course – retrofit the 22kW onboard charger, too. The PCM and Porsche Connect have been subtly enhanced as well, including “a colourful title design on the start screen”, Spotify, optimised voice control, better sat nav on the HUD, greater range on ParkAssist, and – where applicable – keyless opening on request.
“Following this update, anyone driving a Taycan from early in the car’s production run will be pleasantly surprised by how much has developed on the vehicle since then,” said the Taycan model line VP Kevin Giek.
