This is the first 610bhp all-terrain RUF Rodeo, and it’s quite lovely
Plus: CTR3 Evo and Tribute to go on show in California
RUF has revealed the very first production version of its new all-terrain hero, aptly dubbed ‘Rodeo’. It’s black, it’s powerful, and it’s really quite lovely.
It’s built around a carbon fibre monocoque chassis, into which RUF has poured a specially developed 3.6-litre turbocharged flat-six and a decent sprinkle of joy.
Indeed, RUF itself has treated this beating heart to aluminium cylinder heads and an alu-block, fly-by-wire throttle, a dry sump, special cams and something called ‘two-stage resonance induction’. Sounds fancy.
Should actually sound fancy too, not least because it pumps out 610bhp and 516lb ft of torque. That’s channelled through a six-speed manual – told you there was joy – to all four wheels via a pair of limited slip diffs. RUF reckons flat out, you’ll be able to hit 155mph.
Across any terrain, too, because the Rodeo has been kitted out with pushrod-actuated coilovers featuring active dampers specially built for pure, unfiltered off-road abuse. They also handily jack up the ride height by 9.5in, which just looks… really quite lovely.
This first car gets that ‘Jordan Black’ paint over white centrelock forged wheels, white roof rails, (stacked) quad exhaust pipes and white badges. Both front and rear bumpers get ‘bash bars’, the arches have been flared, and there are full LED head- and taillights.
Should this not satisfy your craving for more RUF, the company’s revealed another couple of customer cars: the white CTR3 Evo – only the fastest RUF ever built – and the air-cooled Tribute car. All three will be on show in California at The Quail. Which of these really quite lovely cars gets your vote?
