Jensen’s new Interceptor is officially called the Jensen Interceptor GTX
And guess what? It’ll get a V8
The Jensen Interceptor will return later this year as – drum roll please – the Jensen Interceptor GTX. TopGear.com is all here for the revival of classic model names and nomenclature.
It’ll be an “ultra-high-performance” car that’ll look something like the shady teaser you see above, which is the same shady teaser we were sent back in January when Jensen International first announced it was to revive the classic nameplate.
Only the nameplate, mind. It’s not a continuation car, despite Jensen’s long history of restomodding old Interceptors and FFs. No, this new GTX – again, bravo on the name – will be an entirely new automobile.
It’ll get a hand-built aluminium body and an aluminium chassis, and ‘bespoke’ V8, and “an immersive analogue driving experience”. Analogue’s all the rage again, it seems, at least in the world of ultra-low-volume and high-power machinery.
The son of former Jenson Motors owner Kjell Qvale is also now a ‘key partner’ on the GTX project. His name’s Jeff.
“For me, this project is very personal,” said Jeff. “Jensen was a big part of my father’s life and our family history. Hand-built to the utmost quality, the Jensen Interceptor GTX will set new benchmarks and provide the pure, high-performance, ultra-analogue driving experience that discerning clientele are now demanding.”
