The Kia Seltos is a new petrol-powered compact SUV destined for our shores

Korean manufacturer adds second gen compact SUV to its European lineup

Published: 10 Dec 2025

Kia has revealed the second generation Seltos, which is another compact SUV to add to its ever-growing lineup. Unlike the first gen though, this one is Europe bound.

Measuring 4.43m long, 1.83m wide and 1.6m high, it’ll slot in beneath the Sportage and above the Niro – taking the fight to the like of the VW T-Roc – because another subcompact SUV to fill that gap was exactly what we’d all been crying out for.

Mind, when you consider the number of its ilk that make up the bestselling cars of this year (and previous several years), we shouldn’t really be surprised.

What you might be surprised to learn, however, is that it’s petrol powered. It gets the choice of 178bhp or 190bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged engines, the former offered with a seven-speed DCT or six-speed manual transmission, the latter with an eight-speed auto.

Sitting above that is a 147bhp 2.0-litre petrol, with all-wheel drive optional depending on specification. A hybrid variant will join the range next year.

To look at there’s no mistaking the identity. That wide front grille, Kia’s ‘star map lighting signature’, much chunky plastic cladding, 16in to 19in alloys, and vertical tail-lights at the rear all point to its recent design form.

Step inside and you’re greeted by the carmaker's familiar 12.3in dual widescreen setup complete with dedicated climate control panel (yay!), 24-degree adjustable second row reclining seats, and ‘class-leading’ boot space of 536 litres. Any four-legged friends will surely be delighted.

Buyers will have the choice of Baseline, X-Line and GT-Line trims, though no word on how much it’ll cost. Based on Kia’s current form of late though, we imagine it’ll be rather… good.
