We desperately want this South American Fiat in the UK
The little Mobi Trekking is the super-cute faux-by-four we all need
We must apologise, because back in 2016 we completely missed the launch of the South American-only Fiat Mobi city car. “How could you?” We hear you cry. Well, not to worry, because Fiat has now facelifted the Mobi and added a trim level that we’d dearly love to see in the UK.
Welcome everyone to the jacked-up, plastic-arched Fiat Mobi Trekking. Isn’t it cute? Yeah, we might still get the Panda 4x4 over here, but that costs around £15,000 these days. The Mobi Trekking starts at the equivalent of £6,500.
That is a proper bargain. Especially when you consider this facelift brings with it a seven-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibilities. Oh, and the Trekking may only be front-wheel drive, but you can have it with steel wheels, and they count for a lot in TG terms.
The Trekking also gets 190mm of ground clearance and an approach angle of 24-degrees, as well as roof bars which Fiat Brazil says make the car ‘more imposing’. Not sure about that one.
Under the bonnet is a 75bhp 1.0-litre four-cylinder engine that can run on petrol or ethanol. We’d love this thing on our shores.
