There will be three trim levels for the S-Max: standard, Zetec and Titanium. All models will come with a seven airbags, including a driver’s knee ‘bag.

There’s a 2.0-litre petrol engine and the same 2.5 five-cylinder unit used in the Focus ST, while diesel fans can choose between 1.8- and 2.0-litre turbodiesels.

The cheapest 2.5-litre is the S-Max 2.5 Zetec and costs £20,267, making it a seven-seat hot hatch.
