Grand Theft Auto's most famous car gets a facelift

Viper-inspired Banshee GTS arrives alongside new GTA Online content

Published: 09 Dec 2024

While the prospect of Grand Theft Auto 6 has us all salivating ourselves into dry, desiccated husks, it's worth pointing out that GTA Online still offers up a couple of major GTA content updates to play each year, replete with new cutscenes, a selection of fresh vehicles and, often, returning fan-favourite characters.

The latest big addition to Rockstar's multiplayer crime sandbox, dubbed Agents of Sabotage, is a series of robbery missions with a cybercrime twist, which would be exciting enough on its own, but it also brings with it the latest version of the now-iconic Banshee.

GTA veterans will remember the Dodge Viper-inspired Banshee from its debut way back in 2001's Grand Theft Auto III as one of the game's fastest cars. Since then, it's been the vehicle of choice of discerning getaway drivers in every GTA game. The new Bravado Banshee GTS, which you can see in 'Spider-Man's daily' spec in our exclusive screenshot, looks like a suitably menacing way to tear around the streets of Los Santos.

It's another addition to a now-dizzying total number of vehicles in GTA Online, with over 70 built for the game in the last two years alone, including open wheel racers, drift cars and custom tuners. In spite of the wealth of options, you'll forgive us for getting particularly misty eyed about the first time we drove a Banshee through a plate glass window at 8-Ball's showroom in GTA III.

Agents of Sabotage arrives in GTA Online tomorrow.
