Mugen CRZ RZ goes on sale in Japan
Japanese super-tuner Mugen has announced the release of a production-ready version of Honda's CR-Z. It's called the CRZ ‘RZ'. And it's only available in Japan.
The RZ continues to feature the production car's hybrid technology and 1.5-litre four-pot VTEC engine, but here - as in the concept TG drove a while back - Mugen boffins have added a supercharger, raising the overall output to just over 170bhp and 194lb ft of torque.
No official performance figures have been released for this Mugen, but that concept version we tested last year hit a 0-62 time of close to six seconds.
The Japan-only RZ also features adjustable suspension, upgraded brakes, an adjustable front spoiler and rear wing, some diffusers, some alloys, some specially coloured seats and 17in forged alloy wheels. Sold as a complete car - as opposed to shopping for individual parts - the whole thing costs around £35k in Japan (4,494,000 JPY), and just 300 have been slated for production.
A far cry from the concept Mugen CRZ's £150,000 price tag. But then, what price exclusivity, TopGear.commers?
