Peugeot built a life-size Lego 9X8 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans
… and yes, it finished the whole build in 24 hours, but imagine how many times the builders stepped on stray pieces
That’s because they were a bunch of design, engineering and building experts from Lego, and they were a little bit busy piecing together a Lego Technic version of the 9X8 on the Peugeot stand in the fan village. Not just the mini model 9X8 that you can buy yourself, though – this one was a full-size replica of the actual Le Mans Hypercar. Very cool.
And to make things a whole lot more difficult for themselves, the builders set themselves a goal of finishing the whole thing within 24 hours. Yikes.
Lego says that these 1:1 scale builds usually take a team of eight builders over five months to complete, but the 12 Peugeot builders at Le Mans stuck all 626,392 bits together just inside the 24-hour limit. Well done all. Unfortunately, Peugeot confirmed after Le Mans that it would keep its new white livery for the rest of the WEC season, so presumably the Lego builders are going to have to take this one apart and build another.
Fancy another go during the 6 Hours of São Paulo, team?
