The estate from hell? Manhart’s M3 Touring has 867bhp and an even angrier face

Or if that output seems a little light, stage two and three tuning packs will also be offered. Sheesh

Published: 28 Nov 2024

Another day, another black and gold Manhart special. This time it’s fired up the G81 Series M3 Touring, christening its *checks notes* 867bhp alternative the ‘MH3 800’. Why you would possibly need more power than a Ferrari 812 Competizione in an estate, we’ve no idea.

But we do think black is a good primary colour to start skunkworks-ing out the M3 with, since it makes the nostrils easier to digest. Manhart's then slung on a new front splitter, two-piece apron, more vented bonnet and some canards. All made from carbon, of course.

It sits lower than before thanks to height-adjustable coilovers, hunkered down on 20in forged Rafa alloys. Kerbing those would not be fun.

Out back there’s a different boot spoiler and diffuser joining a stainless steel exhaust. The latter gains custom downpipes with the usual Manhart OPF delete, so the 3.0-litre ‘S58’ biturbo straight-six should sound even meaner.

Speaking of that engine, the 867bhp output is merely stage one. A second and third tuning package will also be available, likely nudging the M3 close to 1,000bhp by fettling with all manner of things, like the ECU, pistons and intercooler. That definitely won't be overkill.

With mild concentration, it means you should be able to get the original 3.7s 0-62mph time down too. The power boost would be a bit, umm, pointless if not.

Just try not to get distracted by the starry sky roof that can be ticked off the options list, a list which also includes a roll cage, four-point racing harness and bespoke floor mats. We had a quick fiddle and very quickly racked up a £40,000 bill.

Remember this is a soft estimate since what’s chosen will be unique to you. It could even stretch as high as the price of a new M3 Touring itself, which is around £85k in case you wondered. The Estate From Hell doesn't come cheap then, it seems.
