Huge crash at the Rally de Catamarca
After Anthony Davidson's literally back-breaking accident at the weekend's 80th running of Le Mans 24 hours (get well soon) we didn't want to see another big crash for a while. But we have. And it's even bigger.
Today we were sent this video of Argentine rally driver Nico Diaz in his Ford Fiesta on Rally de Catamarca. Having a brake failure in a rally car is transparently not a good thing, and that's what apparently happened to Nico. He then flew off the side of the road, rolled, rolled a little more, flipped a bit, did a bit more rolling and came to rest in a stream. All of this happened while his throttle was wide open, screaming out like an angry dinosaur from Jurassic Park Lost World.
Amazingly, both Nico and his co-driver Luis Allende were OK, as were the spectators who lined the road.
