Off the back of the ‘most successful year’ in its history, British racing sportscar maker Radical is bringing several upgrades to the table for two of its most popular cars in 2022.

The SR10 - launched late last year and now Radical’s fastest-selling model ever - gets the most attention, with revised brake disc and pad compounds that allow it to stop faster for longer.

There’s also an improved map for the tuned, 2.3-litre Ford EcoBoost engine that shaves a tenth off the 0-60mph time to 2.3 seconds. The top speed of 180mph is unchanged, as is the total output of 425bhp and 380lb ft of torque.

The rest of the updates apply to both the SR10 and the mid-range SR3 XX. You won’t have failed to notice the whopping great halo above the cockpits; introduced for added safety and fully conforming to FIA specifications.

Aluminium cast uprights have been brought in for extra durability, while suspension upgrades and new camber shims give greater scope for owners to dial in their cars depending on the circuit, driving style and track conditions by adjusting the ride height, spring rates and turn-in.

Meanwhile the steering column has been raised for better visibility (power steering is available as an option), and both cars get the option of a second digital display to complement the digital screen on the steering wheel.

These give access to comprehensive performance data, telemetry and on-board video, all of which are vital for driver coaching, says Radical.

“The 2022 updates deliver step changes in driver safety, driveability and durability giving our customers the confidence to post faster lap times for longer periods of time,” explains company CEO Joe Anwyll. “As we approach the company’s 25th anniversary in 2022, we plan to continue the accelerative pace of growth driven by desirable new product, world class dealers and our products’ position as the race car of choice at North American private member circuits.”

Radical has shifted 80 SR10s since the car’s launch and hopes it’ll continue in the same vein next year. Order books are open now with first deliveries expected in Q1 of 2022, just in time for the start of the Radical Challenge and Radical SR1 Cup at Donington next April.

Fancy a place on the grid? Prices for both cars are still very much TBC, but you can expect the SR10 to pass the £130k mark after VAT and options have been applied.
