The Toyota Supra GT4 ’50 Edition’ is very rare race car
Only six are being built, but it won’t cost you more than a regular GT4
Despite its appearance, this isn’t a tuned road-ready Supra packing ungodly amounts of power. It is instead a supremely rare racing Supra; specifically, a GT4 racing Supra. Unsurprisingly, it is called the Toyota Supra GT4 ’50 Edition’.
The suffix points to Toyota having shifted 50 of the GT4-spec Supras to customers across the globe since it launched in 2020. Since that time, we’re told it’s racked up 36 class wins and 78 podiums, and everyone knows the best way to say ‘cheers for that’ is a badged-up special edition.
Just six are being built – two for Asia, Europe and the USA – and each one is resplendent in its Gazoo Racing red paintwork and gold ’50 Edition’ livery on the flanks and the roof. Though worryingly, Toyota says it’ll stand out in a paddock or “private collection”. Get thine ruby flanks to a race circuit, not a heated garage.
Anyway, each of the six GT4 special editions feature a new racing seat with some embroidery, along with a passenger seat and carbon fibre footrest for when you want to scare your loved ones on a hot lap. There are yet more logos inside, and a car cover for the outside.
It won’t cost you any more than a ‘normal’ Supra GT4 car – £180k+ – although ‘normal’ is of course relative. Each GT4 packs a tuned 3.0-litre turbo sixer packing 426bhp and 479lb ft of torque, while it sheds nearly 150kg of weight from the road car. Naturally the GT4 car gets beefy brakes, adjustable racing dampers and lots of aero.
Plus, that appearance is, frankly, quite excellent.
