Whatever happened to the... Devon Motorworks GTX?

An attempt at rekindling the Mk2 Dodge Viper... failed

Published: 23 Mar 2026

What is it?

An attempt by a chap called Scott Devon to swoop on the defunct MkII Dodge Viper, buy up the production rights and continue selling it clothed in a carbon body by Swedish designer Daniel Paulin.

Did they build any?

Two were constructed, using a tuned 650bhp 8.4-litre V10. The red car, kitted out with a huge wing, did the track work, briefly claiming the Laguna Seca lap record. A black example was auctioned in 2012, and despite estimates over half a million dollars, made just $200,000.

Where are they now?

After Dodge refused to sell Devon the rights for less than $10m (his budget was half that) the project floundered and was killed off for good by the 2009 financial crisis. Ironically the ‘real’ Dodge Viper was also binned in 2017 due to low demand. No word on Mr Devon trying to bag the oily bits this time.
