Get your Ford Mustang Dark Horse with gnarly* Carbon Revolution wheels

*Other adjectives are available. Five-spoke, 19-inchers from Carbon Revolution look immense

Published: 10 Feb 2023

The 5.0-litre V8 Ford Mustang Dark Horse goes on sale later this year, and you can now get your 500bhp track toy with the five-spoke, 19-inch carbon fibre wheels you see here.

Words that spring to mind: sublime, purposeful, brazen, imposing. We’ve gone with gnarly in the headline, but y’know, take your pick.

They’re the work of Aussie firm Carbon Revolution, and although this is its first collab with Ford it’s the first ‘core vehicle’ programme it’s been involved with, having previously kitted out some Shelby variants and the Ford GT.

The ‘core vehicle’ bit is important because the company believes it will lead to ‘wider adoption’ of its technology. Which means more cars will look like that. Woo hoo!

So what is the tech, exactly? Carbon Revolution says these wheels reduce unsprung weight and rotational mass by 37 per cent versus the standard aluminium wheels.

They also feature its trademarked Diamond Weave Technology, which it claims leaves a ‘perfect’ finish on the visible surfaces. Which, by the way, feature signature blue detailing woven in to mimic the accents on the Dark Horse’s exterior and interior.

This is Carbon Revolution’s first five-spoke design for Ford, and it’s especially proud of the lug nut positioning (yes, really); sat between each of the spokes for a more prominent appearance that also nods to Ford’s heritage.

Following more than 200 tests to ensure that the wheels are fit for purpose, the carbon fibre wheels will be available as an option when the Dark Horse goes on sale this summer.

And get this: it’s the first car the company linked up with that’s available in right-hand drive, and they’ll be available in markets like Australia, Japan… and the UK.

The configurator can’t go live soon enough.
