The Aston Martin DB9 is 20 years old: here's a used one we found for £12k

For the price of a new Picanto, you can bag yourself a 5.9-litre V12 Aston. Your call

Published: 15 Aug 2024

Can you believe the DB9 turned 20 this year? We can’t either. Aston’s big, two-door grand tourer still looks, sounds and goes like it did back in the year which saw Facebook created, construction of the Burj Khalifa begin and a certain diminutive Argentinian make his first-team debut for Barcelona.

And to celebrate, why not bag yourself this example, which is up for sale now for just under 12 grand. Yep, you read that right. Better still, the ad doesn’t state any obvious errors with its mechanicals, and it’s listed with a smidge over 51,500 miles to its name.

Helmed by that glorious (and shouty) 5.9-litre V12, its next owner will have around 450bhp and 420lb ft to play with, which means a sub-five-second run to 62 and a top speed of 186mph. But all these numbers are secondary to the DB9’s defining quality: design.

That bonded aluminium body sits on top of a double wishbone suspension and has plenty of space-age composite materials attached to create one long, sweeping silhouette. The one we found also wears a suave silver overcoat and a set of red brake calipers.

Of course, the real cost lies in maintenance. Servicing. Parts. Fuel. Other Things. A gamble worth taking on a 12 grand DB9?
