What should I be paying?

The Peugeot 3008 starts at £37,920 in entry-level GT trim, and while the line-up was nice and simple to begin with, it now... isn't. Ah.

GT has the full wow factor interior, including a 21in curved screen and configurable i-Toggles, plus smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, dual USB-C sockets front and rear, heated seats and steering wheel, ambient lighting, reverse sensors and camera, tinted rear windows, electronic boot, three-claw running lights, 19in wheels and keyless start.

GT Premium costs £39,420 and throws in a 360-degree camera, a driver assist pack with the lane-change tech, plus 10-way adjustable, massaging front seats. Basically a couple of Lazyboys, then.

Confusingly, going for the plug-in hybrid opens up a new entry trim – Allure – that costs £40,110, making do without some kit and flashier trim pieces to make the jump to the more sophisticated powertrain more of a hop. Here GT is £43,490 and GT Premium is another two grand again.

Options include Alcantara leather at £1,000, and a 'Sensation Pack' that bundles a panoramic opening sunroof with a 10-speaker Focal sound system for £1,200. A 360-degree camera and ADAS pack is £600 if you're sticking to GT trim.

That's frightfully expensive for a mid-sized Peugeot...

It doesn’t exactly have affordability on its side, no. It’s at minimum a couple of grand more than a Kia Sportage, Nissan Qashqai and Ford Kuga, and very nearly on par with what you'll pay for an Audi Q3. Which has significantly more clout when it comes to driveway envy.

On lease you’re looking at £400 per month, but as ever there's an online calculator with trillions of combos which make a ballpark figure almost as relevant as the PHEV's fuel economy stats. Go have a play with the configurator.

What's the best trim to go for?

Frankly, we don’t think you should look above the base trim, given the sheer volume of stuff that it comes with, including the big talking point that is the huge curved screen.

You're probably better off with the mild hybrid engine, unless you can take advantage of the 10 per cent BiK tax in the plug-in for 2026/27 and you're the sort of person who will actually bother to charge it.
