Buying
What should I be paying?
The range kicks off at £26,000 for the pure petrol, a whisker under £29,000 for the hybrid, and £32,500 for the full electric – from which you can detract the current £1,500 gift from the UK government Electric Car Grant. The Mokka is more interesting in EV form and looks better value too.
Talk kit choices to me…
Vauxhall introduced a new entry-spec Griffin trim in April 2025, lowering the price point but packing additional equipment previously only seen on upper trims. It gets Intelli-LED headlights, 17-inch black diamond cut alloy wheels, a contrasting black roof and rear privacy glass, a 10in digital instrument cluster and touchscreen with smartphone pairing, heated steering wheel, front seats and door mirrors, electronic climate control and keyless start, plus the usual driver assist gizmos.
GS trim adds the (harsh riding) 18-inch wheels but otherwise gets the same gloss black roof and tinted rear windows seen on Griffin trim. The cabin is smarter though largely thanks to ambient lighting, while there’s also height adjustable seats, a centre armrest and console, grab handles), and a rear reading lamp. Oh, and in addition to the rear parking sensors you get a high resolution 180° rearview camera.
Range-topping Ultimate variants get the full bells ‘n’ whistles, including auto Intelli-Lux Matrix headlights plus additional driver tech including forward brake assist, blind spot alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Inside there’s a heated steering wheel plus suede heated and massaging seats, inbuilt navigation (that you’ll likely never use) and wireless charging. Plus a frameless rear view mirror that no one will notice.
Want the GSE? It’s perched under the Ultimate – £36,995 before the ECG, £35,495 after, making it about a grand cheaper – but lease deals might tighten the gap. This is Vauxhall wilfully shrinking its profit margins to make an impact. Nevertheless, it only expects to sell about a thousand hot Mokkas a year.
And if you were the one holding the cheque book?
We wouldn’t look beyond Griffin trim, based on the fact it gets the better riding 17-inch alloys and the heated steering wheel and seats.
The electric powertrain best suits the Mokka to our mind, but only you’ll know if that works for you. Worth noting though that like every electric Vauxhall, you’ll also get £500 credit which can be put towards a home wallbox or charging at Tesco stores/Octopus tariffs. Yep, even the GSE. Nice little bonus there.
Black paint is standard, with white, blue, green or one of two greys costing £650 more. Go for one of the brighter options: you won’t regret it. The £250 black bonnet on the GSE might be an acquired taste, though.
