Big-time South Korean manufacturer, and first cousin to Hyundai. Not so long ago, Kia served up cheap-and-not-especially-cheerful city cars in the UK, but in the last two decades has transformed itself into a maker of one of the most competent ranges of mid-market cars out there. Rarely at the cutting edge of excitement, but rarely drops the ball either. Fat warranties, too.
