Can Hyundai continue its excellent recent form (making good sensible cars and fun hot hatchbacks) into the world of EVs?

That’s the question for the Hyundai Ioniq, the edgy electric family crossover that’s the first of Hyundai’s new family of Ioniq-badged EVs. Instead of using raw speed to sell it, this is an electric car groaning under the weight of thoughtful design touches, clever details – and one or two gimmicks – to lure you away from rivals like Ford, VW, and (you guessed it) Tesla.
