The Cupra Terramar will be a big new combustion-engined (hybrid) SUV
There'll soon be another massive SUV in town. Woohoo!
The Cupra product range is expanding this year with the arrival of a big new SUV. Yay! Turns out the brand is helping Seat create record profits and as such, there are high expectations for the 2024 launches of the all-electric Tavascan, and this big new SUV it's calling the Terramar.
It's a crossover SUV, apparently, and it'll be the last ever Cupra to feature a combustion engine. It’ll be available as a mild-hybrid and a plug-in hybrid, capable of up to 62 miles (100km) of pure electric power.
Measuring in at 4.5m long - a fraction bigger than the big Formentor - the Terramar will of course get Cupra's distinctive ‘shark nose’ front end. Other than where it'll be built - in the same Hungarian factory as the Formentor VZ5 and the Audi Q3 – we don't really know much more, but Cupra tells TopGear.com more information will be announced later in August.
We do know that it'll rival the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Nissan Qashqai e-Power and Toyota RAV4, not to mention its VW Group stablemates. Watch this (big) space...
