Nissan confirms the Ariya Nismo will come to the UK later this year

It’ll feature improved brakes and suspension to go with the flashier looks, while upgrades have also been issued for the powertrain

Published: 16 Jul 2024

Back in January, Nissan unveiled the Ariya Nismo as the first (somewhat sporty) inductee into its electrified Nismo range. And now, it’s confirmed the jumped-up crossover will soon be offered in the UK. Excited, Juke Nismo fans?

It’s also confirmed it’ll be based on the 87kWh Ariya e-4orce, which means 302bhp, 443lb ft, around 300 miles of range and a trip to 62mph in 5.7s… at least. We say ‘at least’ because, while Nissan has confirmed improvements have been made to the powertrain, it’s yet to reveal just how substantial the increases will be for UK-spec versions.

Though, we do know the Ariya will be equipped with trick suspension at both axles and stronger brakes, which should help the 2.2-tonne Leviathan manage its weight a bit better. Which is fairly important given this is meant to be a sporty version of a car that’s naturally anything but.

In its best efforts to demonstrate the personality shift of this particular Ariya, Nissan has bolted on a healthy serving of splitters, fins and bulges across the bodywork, while a more aggressive grey and black paint scheme lines the exterior.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed for the Ariya Nismo, but consider the standard version loiters around the £50,000 mark. Reckon it’ll actually work, or be as marmite as a Nismo-fied Juke?
