The Renault 4 is back
Renault plans to revive the legendary 4, plus the Renault 5 EV is confirmed for production and Alpine is on track to launch its first EV in 2024
Renault announced MANY things at a big press conference on Wednesday. Much of it boring business-y stuff, but there are a few things you ought to know…
First, that the Renault 5 Concept is officially happening. We knew as much when it was revealed in January, but now Renault has properly announced the retro-tastic EV will be one of ten battery-electric cars it’s launching by 2025.
Second, that the Renault 4 is back. Yup, Renault is reviving another legendary model from its back catalogue. No firm details yet, but the so-called ‘4ever’ ought to ride on the same platform as the 5 and could spawn a small electric van.
Third, Alpine is on track to launch its first EV in 2024. The second of those shadowy teaser images up top previews its first three EVs – the one in the middle is obviously a hot version of the Renault 5, and the one at the bottom could well be the EV sportscar Alpine is developing with Lotus. As for the one at the top – looks tall enough to be a coupeified-SUV. Happily it’s only a couple of years until we find out…
