This is a remote controlled, scale model of the Mercedes-AMG One
So unlike Merc’s F1-engined hypercar, this might *actually* work
Christmas is a mere 69 days away (where has the year gone, huh?) and so it might be time to start thinking about what the junior car fanatic in your life is going to unwrap on the big day. May we humbly present this.
This being a 1:8 scale replica of the Mercedes-AMG One, which we’re obliged to remind you is a hypercar of F1-derived power capable of 1,049bhp.
And no it’s not Lego, but rather a CaDA product designed by Bruno Jenson (aka BrunoJJ1) who is renowned for building block wizardry. Hence why this miniature One faithfully recreates the retractable rear wing, longitudinal fin and distinctive dropped nose of the original.
All told there are 3,295 interlocking pieces, with independent front and rear suspension, shock absorbers, LED lights, and an engine modelled on the original with KERS simulated by pullback motors.
There are two motors, FYI - giving the model four-wheel drive - plus a two-speed transmission. Apparently there are driving modes (!) and the doors open at the touch of a button. Power comes from two AA batteries (not included, as you’d expect).
The final thing to note is that the model is 57cm long, 24.5cm wide and 16cm tall. Definitely trip hazard territory then.
Cost? It’s going for $292 (about £240) on CaDA’s website. So about 10,000 times cheaper than an actual One and - if we’re being brutally honest - vastly more likely to, y’know, work…
