The Ineos Grenadier Game Viewer is the safari spec 4x4 your game reserve needs
Tie up with Botswana based conversion specialists Kavango sees concept turned real
If you're fed up of the rat race and thinking of leaving it all behind to set up your own luxury retreat in a game reserve complete with the best safari experience money can buy... then we have Good News! Said news is called the Ineos Grenadier Game Viewer.
You may remember the concept from Goodwood Festival of Speed a year ago. Now, the British manufacturer has confirmed production of the real thing, with a little help from Botswana-based conversion specialists Kavango, who has previous here.
Back in 2020 the firm created a safari-ready Grenadier from a donor production prototype, complete with lightweight rollback canvas top, foldable windscreen, tiered seating and raised ride height. Ineos was sold, and acquired the business in 2023.
Come today, Ineos will ship partially built long and extra-long wheelbase Grenadiers from its manufacturing plant in France to Botswana – with no paint, tailgates, passenger seating, side glazing, roof skin, trims or unnecessary electric features – ready for conversions.
Buyers will then be able to customise as and how they like, including roof design, seating for between four and nine, and overall layout. Anyone speccing that seat on the front bonnet – and then choosing to sit there when there are lions about – is a braver person than us.
Still, four have already been specced by Hiddn Lodge, a luxury retreat in South Africa, and will be roaming the wilderness from next month. So if you’re ever in the area…
Lynn Calder, CEO of Ineos, said: “This is the Grenadier coming full circle. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s original inspiration for a modern, robust 4x4 came while on safari in Botswana almost 10 years ago. This deep connection with Africa was borne out in the Goodwood concept and in the final production design.
“The teams at Hambach and Inoes Kavango have been working together for the last 18 months to bring the Grenadier Game Viewer to life as a full production model, and we can’t wait to see it in service.”
