This new-old four-cylinder Porsche 912T weighs an incredible 860kg
KAMM reveals delightful new touring classic, and you want it
KAMM concedes that adding comfort-orientated features into its 912 has added “a bit of weight”. So this 912T is a bit on the portly side. A whopping [checks notes] 860kg. Eight hundred and sixty kilos! That’s a battery pack on a new SUV! Probably!
“It is still an incredible 100kg lighter than the original 912,” Kamm reports, so welcome once again to the world of bespoke, new-old Porsches that you’d happily daily.
This one of course isn’t powered by a battery pack, but instead by a 2.0-litre air-cooled four pot developed by Kamm’s engineers who have all served with distinction at places like Porsche Motorsport, Singer and Koenigsegg. Safe to say they know their way around an engine.
It develops a whopping [checks notes] 160bhp and 148lb ft, so no, it won’t be troubling a GT3 RS. But with such a relaxed, comfort-orientated gait, it won’t cause you any trouble at all.
Especially because in this comfort spec 912T, it’s been tweaked. So yes, there are still individual throttle bodies, air-cooled heads and pistons, bespoke intake and exhaust manifolds and so on, but the redline’s been dropped down to 6,500rpm.
There’s also a “non-valved” touring exhaust so it’s less raucous (but still punchy), a more chill calibration for the five-speed dog leg manual, comfort-tuned TracTive dampers, more comfortable ‘Touring’ spec seats, and other very bespoke details.
And naturally, a bespoke price. They start at €245k (just over £213k) excluding the donor car, though Kamm’s only building five at a time. And it’ll start building them early next year.
“The 912 is a timeless classic and in the 912T we have re-imagined it as a sports tourer that delivers elevated comfort without diluting the pure joy of driving,” said Kamm boss Miki Kázmér.
