Let’s spend two blissful minutes watching the new Assetto Corsa Evo trailer
Finally, Kunos Simulazioni shows off its new project in (gratuitously slow) motion
It’s hard to imagine a world in which Assetto Corsa Evo releases and isn’t absolutely wondrous. The original 2014 AC is still a titan of sim sandbox racing thanks to its modding community, and 2018’s Assetto Corsa Competizione remains the last word in sim racing motorsport. Ergo: Evo will probably be pretty decent.
And now that we’ve seen it in motion, we’re even more confident of that.
The new trailer just dropped to announce that the game will be hitting Steam Early Access in WIP form in January 2025, which is nerve-jangling proximity to the present day.
But before we start pre-cancelling the gym membership we were going to set up as a new year’s resolution in order to find time for it, let’s just take two minutes and watch some glossy car bonnets shimmer under the scorching virtual sun while an outrageously seductive Italian voice tells us various things that it’s not about. Your age. Your car. Performance or power. All irrelevant, apparently.
What this trailer’s also doing is showing off the bespoke new game engine that AC Evo’s running in, with a particular eye for lavish interior cockpit detail. See the way the light bounces off the logo of that C192 AMG GT’s steering wheel? Not a coincidental inclusion. Kunos wants you to know how much attention it’s paying to the finer details, inside and out.
So let’s all stop pretending we’re so busy that we don’t have two minutes to watch some incredibly handsome cars rolling by in slow-mo, sit back and watch the trailer.
And then maybe again.
