Climb to the Clouds is back
Last week we showed you a picture of the Subaru WRX concept that previews the 2014 production car. This week, the manufacturer's singlehandedly resuscitated the Mt Washington ‘Climb to the Clouds' hillclimb event in America by providing title sponsorship.
It's an auspicious event for it to get involved in. Unlike the longer, higher, and all-tarmac Pikes Peak hillclimb, the surface is around 13 per cent gravel. Which means we won't be seeing anything like the Peugeot 208 T16 attending, but it'll give Subaru the opportunity to show off its AWD system, and BRZ-derived turbocharged boxer engine (the same 296hp lump in the current JDM Legacy, fact fans). Hopefully an STI version, too...
The event'll take place from June 26-29, and there'll be 75 modern and classic cars running up the 6,288-foot-high mountain over three days. If you want a taste, of the 2014 race, check out 2011's record-breaking run - the last year Climb to the Clouds ran.
