This new Swansea City third kit proves everything looks better in Gulf livery
Welsh club brings back Gulf Oil sponsor and references the Ford GT40, Porsche 917 and McLaren F1 GTR. TG approves
Allow us to deviate from news of new supercars and small electric crossovers for just a moment, because there’s a new football kit that we’d like to make you aware of.
Swansea City have just launched their third kit for the 2025/26 season, and it’s living proof that everything looks better in Gulf livery. We must get one immediately.
Heck, the club even namechecked the Ford GT40, Porsche 917 and the McLaren F1 GTR in its press release for the new shirt. There’s a proper petrolhead working there somewhere, isn’t there? You may remember the latter was a Longtail run by GTC Motorsport Gulf Team Davidoff in 1997, and it featured a Top Gear Magazine logo on its flanks. So yeah, we’ve always been partial to Gulf colours in these halls.
Swansea – who now list Snoop Dogg and Luka Modric as unlikely co-owners and investors – had Gulf Oil as a shirt sponsor back in the mid-1990s and we’re told this third kit has been designed to “evoke great memories for Swans fans”. The blue and orange Joma strip is also apparently made from 100 per cent recycled polyester, so technically we’d be doing our bit for the planet by wearing one, no?
