Radical has updated the SR10 XXR and now we have track day cravings

And we definitely want ours in Daytona Green…

Published: 17 Sep 2024

It’s days like this that make you want to go all in on that racing licence you definitely want, but promised never to plough your savings into. Yep, an enticing new track toy hath been placed before our eyes.

And now thine eyes. This folks is the updated SR10 XXR, which Radical has refreshed for the 2025 model year along with its gentler, but still mildly terrifying SR3 XXR.

There isn’t one big headline change, just lots of small incremental gains: the carbon fibre seats have been reconfigured, now featuring a wrap-around headrest (somewhere to rest that neck against those lateral Gs, eh?) and both stronger and lighter than the GRP seats that came before.

Kevlar inserts and stronger mounts and bracketry up the safety game, and all seating options benefit from redesigned harnesses for better comfort. Seating layouts, by the way, include left-hand drive, right-hand drive and, um… middle-hand drive? You know what we mean, central driving position innit.

Similarly the mechanical changes aren’t massive, but a redesign of the bellhousing on the SR10 XXR and a carbon fibre front splitter made from new techniques (and ‘aerospace-grade epoxy resin’) should mean better reliability.

Meanwhile Radical says changing the radius of the sidepods has shifted the balance 2.5 per cent towards the front axle, but that this becomes 11.5 per cent at 160mph. So less understeer and less tyre scrub, it claims.

Radical also says it’s changed the ratio on the steering rack so less effort is required. Good news for those of us who are bicep ‘n’ core averse.

Oh, and a new lightweight flywheel and clutch are said to improve the blip response and lead to smoother downshifts. It’ll all turn up in the lap times, you know…

Extra customisation is a thing now too. As well as custom body colours, you can also have the Braid wheels in the same hue. Or you can go the whole nine yards and submit your own custom livery, which Radical will then put through a photoshoot for you when it’s finished. Makes the Insta’ game easier, right?
