Video: Building a Pikes Peak car
This year Pikes Peak is a lot like flatulence in confined public spaces: you need to be careful of the silent ones, most notably Monster Sport's E-Runner Pikes Peak Special EV.
Here's a short video of the build process of Monster Tajima's aluminum space framed, all-wheel drive, carbon-clad car. But like all good Japanese videos, all the juicy, technical bits are hidden behind pixels. That's because the battery packs and EV tech in Monster's car are top secret. No one knows exactly how powerful the E-Runner is, but having seen the car in practice, where it posted times of 4:14.786 and 4:13.343 on sections of the mountain, we can confirm it's fast.
We'll be talking to the man himself in a bit, so stay tuned. But ‘till then, sit back, relax and click play...
