Watch Mark Webber drive a Cayman GTS 4.0 very quickly

Who loves a pedal-cam? Literally everybody

Published: 09 Apr 2020

Nine-time F1 race-winner and 2015 WEC Champion Mark Webber might not have raced since 2016, but he’s clearly still got it. As this on-board video of him driving a Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 around Estoril so ably demonstrates.

It also demonstrates that, after all those years racing paddle-shift F1 cars and Le Mans prototypes, he hasn’t forgotten how to use his left foot. For your viewing pleasure Porsche set-up a pedal cam in Webber’s Cayman so you can watch his expert footwork, having turned off the 4.0’s excellent auto-blipper. Watch and learn, people, because this is how it’s done.

It’s a great video, this, with no music, commentary or choppy edits to distract from Webber’s world-class car control. We suggest you watch it. Then watch it again and maybe again, before clicking right here to watch the legendary on-board that almost certainly inspired it – Ayrton Senna in a Honda NSX-R at Suzuka.

The grainy footage of the three-time F1 World Champion wringing that poor NSX’s neck has been watched millions of times on YouTube. After all, it’s not often you get to see drivers of this calibre driving ‘ordinary’ road cars.
