Question of the Week

Question of the Week: what do *you* think is the best performance car of 2024?

911 S/T, McLaren 750S, or… the Auto Union Type 52? The comment section awaits

Published: 04 Nov 2024

It's time for Top Gear's annual our performance car of the year test, so we thought we’d focus this week’s question on exactly that: what do you think is the best fast car of 2024?

Some strong shouts will go to the Porsche 911 S/T, which is the one of the all-time great 911s. The numbers are solid: 518bhp, 343lb ft, 1,380kg and 186mph. But numbers aren’t what the S/T is about. Its bias is towards pure driver engagement and experience, and frankly, it’s a showstopper in that regard.

Or how about the 750S? Despite looking fairly similar to the car it replaces, McLaren's latest supercar now has what it takes to topple the Ferrari 296 GTB.

Let’s spare a thought for the little guys too, like the second-generation GR Yaris. Toyota sold over 40,000 of its first gen, and honed in on amplifying the dynamics where possible for this second act: increased power, an improved 4WD system and a bigger focus on aero. Result? Many child-like gurns when it starts misbehaving.

Over to you, readers. Which performance car of 2024 takes your vote? Let us know in the comments section below, and the very best arguments will be curated into the usual Friday results post. Try not to stress yourself out too much.
