Question of the Week: what’s your favourite Hamilton at Mercedes moment?
You’re not short on choices, that’s for sure
You’d think that after 12 years, 84 wins and six championships with Mercedes-Benz, Lewis Hamilton would look to retreat to a quiet Indonesian island for a prolonged spell away from the limelight… but no. He's off to Maranello to take his place in one of Formula One’s biggest seats. Before he departs, we wanted to know what you think is his greatest moment in a Silver Arrow.
How about the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix, where he claimed his seventh outright title to equal Michael Schumacher’s record in appalling conditions? You’d have bet your house on it never being matched, but as a defiant Hamilton said that day: “That’s for all the kids out there who dream the impossible.”
Speaking of records, how about Portimao that same year when he set a new high for Grand Prix wins? Yet another Schumacher record came tumbling as Hamilton racked up his 92nd victory overall (he’s on 105 currently). When it comes to a game of numbers, he's untouchable.
One more, we think, this time to do with sheer skill. British Grand Prix 2020: Hamilton leads with half a lap to go before his front-left tyre decides to consume itself. A chasing Max Verstappen smells the very open wound and goes full pelt to try and get a victory… to no avail. Hamilton somehow managed to nurse his three-wheeled car to the chequered flag on his home turf. Yeah, we still get goosebumps.
Needless to say, there’s a plethora of moments to choose from, but what’s been your absolute favourite from Hamilton’s time at Mercedes? Share your thoughts below, and if you make a strong enough case, expect it to feature in Friday’s round-up post.
