Question of the Week

Question of the Week: which non-U.S market car do you wish was sold there?

As a direct follow-up to last week’s version for Brits, we thought we’d spin the same question to those across the pond

Published: 09 Sep 2024

Last week, we asked Brits which non-UK car(s) they’d most like to see sold here. In response to that, our regular commenter, Dastardly, said: “By the same token, next week’s question should be directed as to what cars we wish were sold in North America that aren’t. And this includes Canada… for those that are geographically challenged.”

A smart comment deserves a just reward, no? So this week’s QOTW is the very first to be dreamt up by one of our own readers. And if us Brits feel like we're missing out, it’s worth sparing a thought for our neighbours across the pond.

Perhaps it’s best to start with a British car from an American company: the Ford Puma ST. While we continue to miss the hot Fiesta, we do still have a slightly bigger, still hugely fun alternative in the Puma. North America doesn’t, and we really don’t understand why.

Let’s up the ante with a car we think would sell really well there: the Alpine A110. Yes, Alpine has big plans to hit the US market in a few years, with a rumoured electric-successor to the lightweight hero, but why not just sell... the lightweight hero now?

Our last conversation starter is the BMW M3 Touring. A sensational bit of kit we've been waiting forever to see, and now it's here, it hasn't disappointed. Well, it is disappointing if you live in the US and want one.

Do any of these options seem like the obvious omission to you from the U.S. market, or do you yearn for something else instead? Leave your comments below for us to wade through to form Friday’s customary results post.
