Question of the Week

Question of the Week: which non-UK market car do you wish was sold here?

An adorable Kei car or a rampant, supercharged pick-up or cool super-saloon? The comment section awaits

Published: 02 Sep 2024

The UK’s automotive industry is quite good, isn’t it? The sheer scope means we get everything from teeny tiny superminis (for now, *sigh*) to seven-seat MPVs and everything in between. Simply put: no matter what type of car you’re looking for, something suiting your criteria exists.

And yet, we still want what we can’t have. When some corners of the world are treated to special editions and demographic-specific body styles, we sit and wonder how life would be if those cars could be purchased here.

For instance, the UK’s faculty of big, thirsty super saloons is very strong. Take the BMW M3 or the Mercedes-AMG C63; if five seats and a bit of panto are what you want, they’ll both do a stellar job. Or there’s the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio if you want something shoutier.

But what if another pretender entered the fray? Say… the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing? Its supercharged 668bhp V8 would put most of our European super saloons to shame on the decibel count, and it’d do so for a similar price too. Or if you want something much softer, how about the Japan-only Toyota Century

Toyota has a bit of a habit of doing this. Imagine slipping between traffic jams in Manchester using a GR Copen Sport Kei car, or hooning your way through the Brecon Beacons in a GR Corolla - while being chased by a Nissan Z. Oh wait, we don’t get any of those here either *sighs again*.

So we ask you in our latest QOTW, dear readers: which non-UK market car would you like to see sold here? Bonus points for why you think it’d work here too. As usual, the best comments will be rounded up and issued in Friday’s result post. Enjoy, wishful thinkers.
