This is the very first £1.2m+ track-focused Praga Bohema hypercar

The first of just 84 cars planned, of course - what does a mil+ get you? Find out here

Published: 06 Dec 2024

Business doing well? Like, over-a-million-quid-lying-around well? Praga has finally begun deliveries of its two-seat, one-tonne, rear-drive Bohema hypercar, and the black V6-engined insectoid you see above is the very first one.

Following a near seven-year development program involving the likes of Romain Grosjean, the Bohema marks Praga’s return to building road cars after a 77-year hiatus. Expectedly for a car that looks as wild as this, customers are in for some pretty wild numbers.

The Litchfield-tuned, mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 chucks out 700bhp/525lb ft thanks to an aluminium block, double overhead camshafts, variable valve timing and lots of other things only mechanical engineers understand.

More simply put, that lot translates to 0-62mph in 2.3s - if you respond quickly enough with the Hewland sequential gearbox - and a top speed of 197mph. Sure, those are impressive, but what’ll really get you going is the downforce: 900kg slammed on you at 155mph.

You’ll be pulling 2G in the corners too, partially thanks to pushrod-activated adjustable dampers, with 380mm carbon ceramic brakes to put a stop to it all when you start feeling a bit woozy.

That carbon body (and monocoque) has been finessed in a wind-tunnel, featuring a full complement of deep air inlets, piercing splitters and a uniquely curved rear wing. Despite the sheer aggressiveness of it all, this thing can be driven through Shoreditch.

Other honourable mentions include 18in wheels with thick tyre walls and titanium exhausts that’ll crackle and pop like the meanest overgrown lizards from House of the Dragon. You even get a 65-litre fuel tank nestled within that skeletal frame and a pair of 50-litre storage pods in the rear wheel arches. It’s no Dacia Jogger, but things are shaping up well.

The cabin isn’t completely spartan either. There’s lots of Alcantara leather in there, plus stylish air vents activated by jet-fighter-inspired controls, a smartphone mount and a few storage pockets.

Praga says two reasonably-sized adults can fit in the fixed-position seats, with an adjustable steering wheel and pedals for the driver. That steering wheel is removable too, and incorporates a digital display which shows you basic readouts and telemetries including oil and coolant temperatures. Yes, you get a horn. No, we don’t know if it sounds like Caraxes.

With the first customer now picking up their car from Grosjean himself, European and other global customers can expect to get their own Bohemas from spring 2025. Priced at a pre-tax amount of €1.43 million (£1.19m), just 84 Bohemas will be made, so you’d better hurry up and decide if the business has done well enough to merit the purchase or not.
