Buy this 5.0-litre V10 engine for £11k and you’ll get an entire E63 BMW M6 for free
500bhp, much tyre squeal and an engine note that’ll have you weak at the knees. How about this for a classified bargain?
V10 engines are rarely mass-produced for road cars, with one of the notable exceptions being BMW's run during the Noughties for the E60 M5 and E63 M6. And we’ve now come across this rather stunning example of the latter, which could be yours for almost two grand less than the price of a Dacia Sandero - one of Britain’s cheapest new cars.
Ooft, what a motor. That naturally aspirated ‘S85’ 5.0-litre screamer is paired with a seven-speed SMG gearbox and sends 500bhp and 384lb ft of torque to the rear wheels. It’s good for 0-62 in 4.6s, and should you lift the electronic 155mph top speed limiter, you’ll squeeze around 190 out of it. Burst ear drums are also likely.
The current owner has put some real work into maintaining that powertrain too, including rod bearing, gasket and oil sump treatments, and regular engine services and coolant flushes. In fact, that attention to maintenance has followed through to the rest of this example too. Just look at it.
The colourways include an Interlagos Blue exterior atop a Silverstone II interior. There’s also plenty of carbon fibre within that cabin and, most notably, on the roof to reduce the M6’s centre of gravity. And because it looks ruddy cool.
And though it’s nearly 20 years old, it still has heated, lumbar supported seats, rear parking sensors and a multifunction steering wheel. Or, in other words, many features lacking in the Dacia Sandero.
Seriously, how have you not put in a bid yet?
