Ferrari has stopped building the SF90 Stradale and 812 GTS

Plus: Roma Coupe and 812 Competizione on their way out too

Ferrari sold more cars in the three months between May and July this year than it did in the same period last year. Specifically, 2.7 per cent more. Though specifically, two cars it won’t be selling in the next three months are the SF90 Stradale and the 812 GTS.

In its latest financial update, Ferrari confirmed it had “phased out” both of those hyperthings in this Q2 period – polite, MaranelloSpeak for ‘we stopped building them’. The former is rumoured to be prime for an update, while the latter is of course, being replaced by the extraordinary new Dodici Cilindri.

Elsewhere, Ferrari said deliveries of the 812 Competizione – a car with a mesmerising V12 – and Roma coupe were down, noting they were both “approaching the end of lifecycle”. More MaranelloSpeak for ‘we’re going to stop building them’.

The Comp of course, has also been replaced by that Dodici, while the future of a gorgeous, V8 Coupe in Ferrari’s line-up remains to be seen. The Roma Spider continues to do good business, helping to bolster those Q2 numbers for Ferrari, alongside the Purosangue and the 296 GTS.

The SF90 XX will live on of course, having only been unleashed into the world very recently, but it’s a farewell to the Stradale. When the SF90 launched back in 2019, it was the first Ferrari to get a proper plug-in hybrid drivetrain.

That meant three electric motors matched up to a twin-turbo V8, able to shift its svelte body around Fiorano faster than TheFerrari TheFerrari thanks to 986bhp, 4WD, a 0-62mph time of 2.5s and a suite of aerodynamic and electronic witchcraft.

Of course there’ll be more electronic witchcraft incoming. Ferrari’s Q2 also saw the inauguration of its ‘e-building’, where it’ll begin building the much-hyped and first ever all-electric Ferrari. We’ll likely see that later this year.
