The McLaren 750S Project Viva is MSO’s tribute to Las Vegas’ bright lights
McLaren Special Operation’s newest treatment is inspired by Las Vegas and the team’s racing heritage
Meet Project Viva. Project Viva is a one-off 750S designed and created by McLaren Special Operations, the carmaker’s bespoke personalisation division. You may have heard of them before.
Inspired by Las Vegas, and unveiled ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, we’re told Project Viva “reimagines the city’s landmarks, lights and energy through intricate monochrome paintwork and hand-crafted artistry”. Feast your eyes, people.
It wears what MSO is calling a “Sketch in Motion” livery that “captures the movement and character of the city, from iconic signage and skyline landmarks to its ties with music and performance”, as well as weaving in McLaren’s racing and design heritage.
So, that paintjob. The deep black finish is called Vegas Nights, a new MSO colour developed exclusively for this one-off. You likely won’t have spotted it unless you’ve zoomed in really, really close, but it’s infused with subtle flecks of cyan, magenta and green, designed to capture the bright lights of Las Vegas after dark. Although it’s suddenly occurred to us… couldn’t MSO have just painted it in those colours to start with?
Anyway. If you have zoomed in close, you may have spotted the many hidden Easter eggs, including the “Welcome To Fabulous MSO” graphic – a reimagination of Las Vegas’ iconic welcome sign – on the bonnet, the 750S playing cards on the rear arch, and the various nods to the city’s gambling scene and landmarks.
You may also have noted the Muriwai House motif, which gets a front door and shutters finished in Muriwai White, an MSO paint shade first created for the 570S Spider and inspired by the whitewashed walls of Bruce McLaren’s family home in Walton-on-Thames. Very nice.
Round the back it gets 10 Constructors’ Championship stars, nine in white, one in silver leaf, hand applied by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, who took time out of their titanic F1 driver’s title fight to join in the fun. We imagine the atmosphere may have been rather… frosty.
These are complemented by 10 silhouettes commemorating each of McLaren’s championship winning cars, mapped onto racetracks across the car.
The McLaren 750S Project Viva will be on display at the McLaren Experience Centre within the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel from 13–20 November, ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
