Driving
What is it like to drive?
First, the good news. The chassis is genuinely good. Just as with the MG6, the 3 rides and handles far better than you’d imagine – there’s loads of grip, body control is superb and the steering is direct. The ride is a tad firm, but it’s a small price to pay for how well this car drives. Those with low expectations will be genuinely surprised here.
But the engine is awful. On paper, it’s got a reasonable amount of power and torque (105bhp and 101lb ft), but it always feels sluggish and lethargic. So you need to rev it to feel like you’re making any sort of progress, and as soon as you do, it gets coarse and thrashy. It really lets the MG down. Luckily, there will be more engines in due course.
