RML P39: is this the craziest aero kit yet for the Porsche 911?

Plus: RML will also build an F1-inspired track special, a new high-performance battery and a restomod of the old Aston Martin Vantage

Published: 05 Aug 2024

Ray Mallock Limited (RML), known for its exploits in motorsport, has announced it’s releasing a modification package for the Porsche 911 as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations. Spoiler alert: it looks a bit mad.

Dubbed the ‘P39’, and applicable across the entire 911 range, RML has said modern Le Mans Hypercars (LMH) will inspire the various aero and performance upgrades. Vague, we know, but if the teaser images are anything to go by, customers could be in for a serious treat.

That new front bumper looks like a near-mimic of the one seen on the Mercedes-AMG One, while the bonnet lid has a pair of caves that are probably as deep as Italy’s Blue Grotto itself. The aerial view also shows that the separation block between the bonnet’s air vents sits plush with the roof scoop, likely working together to channel more air to that huge rear wing.

Looks like a slippery character, doesn’t it? RML has also kept quiet about any performance figures for now but does seem confident these changes will make some notable speed and cornering differences. Time will tell.

Anyway, the P39 won’t be the only product the British marque will be rolling out: there’s also a lightweight track special called the ‘P40’. It’s claimed to use Formula One-grade trickery to give customers an even more dramatic experience than the P39. Perhaps a ‘P45’ is on the way to rival the Space Shuttle too?

RML will then round off its party with two other bits: a new type of high-performance battery and a reimagined version of the classic Aston Martin V8 Vantage. The battery is already in the process of being installed in several supercars, apparently.

No word on pricing or release dates yet, but expect updates in the coming months for both.
