Genesis G80 Electrified review

All that luxury was never going to come cheap, especially with an electric powertrain. As such, prices start at – gulp – £75,615.

That said, it comes in one fully kitted out Dynamic trim, with the spec choice impressively restrained by the standards of this class. Off the bat every G80 Electrified gets those 19in polished concave alloy wheels you see in the pictures above, 27in widescreen display, head-up display, 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo, active road noise cancellation system, built-in antibacterial steriliser in the front centre armrest, tri-zone climate control, fingerprint recognition, electric rear tailgate and more.

Safety is another key criterion. The G80 has pretty much every form of assistance currently available, including remote parking from the key fob, lane assist, and evasive steering assist. There are 10 airbags, including front centre ones. We like the blind spot view monitor, which uses cameras on the door mirrors to supply a video feed to one of the instrument dials.

What options are available to me?

Well, they’re limited, but include metallic/pearl (£850) or matte (£1,130) paint, white brake callipers (£340), Nappa leather (£2,620), rear-wheel steering (£1,120), vehicle-to-load charging (£300) so you can power external appliances, plus comfort packs for the first and second rows (£1,780 and £2,640 apiece) that plushify the seats.

The front row comfort pack includes front heated and ventilated 18-way adjustable seats with massage function, while the second row one introduces soft close power doors, side and rear window blinds, and vanity mirrors.

Tick every box and you’re looking at about 10 grand extra. Restrained, see?
